- A display version with a black and white illustration. You can include this page in your child’s Morning Time Menu or frame it and display it in your school area.
- A page with lines for copy work. Have your child copy the poem line-by-line and color in the illustration.
I suggest you incorporate Poetry Study into your Morning Time, Language Arts lessons, or Poetry Tea Time. Depending on your child’s age, they can use these pages to practice recitation, memorization, and copy work to improve handwriting. Poetry is essential for introducing new vocabulary, phrases, and nuances of meaning.

I love the poem and illustration selections. The lines to practice writing are a good size. My only hang up is the font choice. While beautiful to look at, it isn't the best for beginning writers. The way some letters are shaped (a lowercase g for example) isn't similar to most handwriting and made it difficult to use as practice.
I implemented these in our morning basket with little expectations. I was just wanting to add something different to our morning. My boys (6 and 3) absolutely loved them! My oldest would try to memorize as much as he could and as he would say it aloud my youngest would repeat what he said. It was so cute. The poems were never too long that they were hard to memorize or listen to. I plan on using them again this year.
