Overview of Caddie Woodlawn
Caddie Woodlawn is a timeless story of courage, curiosity, and growing up on the American frontier.
Unlike most girls in her small Wisconsin settlement, Caddie would rather be outdoors hunting, plowing, or chasing after her brothers’ dares. She’s spirited, brave, and full of adventure, befriending the local Native Americans even when her neighbors are afraid to.
Based on the real-life childhood of author Carol Ryrie Brink’s grandmother, Caddie’s story captures the beauty and challenge of pioneer life through the eyes of a bold and lively girl. First published in 1935 and winner of the Newbery Medal, Caddie Woodlawn continues to inspire readers with its humor, heart, and reminder that bravery often means being true to who you are.

I really enjoyed this Dr. Dolittle book study! It has been a great way to keep a consistent reading pace while making the book more enjoyable and engaging. I especially love having ideas for activities we can do at home that connect with the story. It makes reading feel more intentional and gives us opportunities to talk about and enjoy the book together.
A great way to help organize a book study.
I really like this book study. We haven't used it yet, but I have gone through it yet, and have it worked into our plan for our homeschool year. I can't speak for how my kids like it until we actually start the unit, but I am really looking forward to it!
As an educator of ten years this curriculum has something to offer for all ages. This year I am teaching first and third in a homeschool setting. The book studies not inky offer opportunities for all grade levels , but provide opportunities to for all ability levels. It also provides a variety of cross curricular activities as well. Would recommend this!!!!.
Love how many options there are to add to the book study experience - art, cooking etc. we will pick and choose but so nice to not have to visit Pinterest!
