Hands-on Connections
Through living books, your family will learn about the Pilgrim’s voyage to America, the Wampanoag people, the First Encounters, the First Thanksgiving, and the relationship between the Pilgrims and Native Americans in the first year. The curriculum features prompts for notebooking, mapping, and timelining the events leading up to the First Thanksgiving creating a robust history and geography study.
Each day your child will read a passage of Scripture inspired by the Pilgrim’s faith and centering their hearts on gratitude, thankfulness, and perseverance. The study features discussion questions to facilitate conversation and prompts to memerize Scripture.
The beauty section of the study refers to poetry and art. Each day you will be prompted to interact with the week’s poetry or art in various ways like learning new vocabulary, discussion questions, replication, copywork, and playing an observation game. Copywork sheets are provided in the digital files included with your curriculum in both print and cursive with primary or intermediate lines.
Experience what life in the 1600s was like for both the Pilgrims and Wampanoag people through traditional recipes, crafts, and games. Learn weaving and wood carving, cook traditional Wampanoag porridge and make replica homes to bring history to life.
