A Connected Christmas Recap: Week Three

December 29, 2020 Treehouse Schoolhouse

We have wrapped up the third and final week of A Connected Christmas and we’re starting to get sad that this special time of festive celebration is almost coming to an end! Here are all the fun things we did throughout our last week of Christmas school.

A Connected Christmas Recap: Week Three

This week we continued studying passages of the Biblical Christmas story by reading, narrating, and illustrating. We learned about Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem, when Jesus was born, when the angels visited the shepherds, and when the shepherds spread the news! We memorized Luke 2:11:12.

The kids loved singing along to “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” and learning the poem “Christmas Carol” by Sara Teasdale. Our poet and artist studies took us on trips to New York, Missouri, and Paris! My kids especially love illustrating the imagery from the poems and recreating the artwork that we study all week.

We made homemade hot cocoa and took a nature walk after reading The Crippled Lamb. We loved Apple Tree Christmas and read it over and over all week. To bring the story to life, we made clove apples to hang on our Christmas tree. We spent afternoons making birdseed ornaments, and we made our own decorated tree just like in the book Night Tree. We enjoyed The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree and made beautiful nature wreaths with air-dry clay.

After reading Great Joy, we rounded up some coats and canned goods to bring to a homeless shelter.
